Four classifications of thermostatic control valves

Thermostatic control valves can be classified according to the different temperature-sensing media filled by their temperature bulbs, which can be roughly divided into the following four categories:

1. Steam temperature bulb type
The medium filled in the temperature bulb is a low-boiling liquid. When the external temperature rises, part of the liquid vaporizes into gas, and the volume of the temperature bulb increases to push the valve stem, and the opening of the valve is closed to reduce the water flow into the radiator. , when the outside temperature drops, part of the gas liquefies into liquid again, the volume of the temperature bulb decreases, and the opening of the valve increases, thereby increasing the water flow into the radiator. The temperature-sensing medium in this temperature bulb is often in a mixed state of gas and liquid. Its advantage is that the action time is fast, but the requirements for the sealing of the temperature bulb are very strict, and it is rarely used in China at present.

2. Liquid temperature bulb
The temperature-sensing medium filled in the temperature bulb is a special liquid, usually methanol or toluene. This kind of temperature bulb has a large volume and short action time, and is currently widely used in China.

3. Solid temperature bulb
The temperature bulb is filled with a solid with a high expansion coefficient, mostly paraffin. Since solids have smaller volume changes when heated (cold) than gases and liquids, their temperature-sensing actions are slower, but their volume is smaller than that of liquid temperature bulbs, and they are also used in some domestic applications.

4. Metal sheet type
The temperature-sensing device of the constant temperature controller is a special alloy metal sheet with memory function, which drives the temperature control valve to move due to thermal expansion and contraction.
